A guitarist, composer, and electronic musician, Donghyuk Heo is an artist who seamlessly traverses the boundaries of rock, jazz, electronic music, Korean traditional performance, and media art to build his own unique soundscapes.
Having established his musical foundation in the early Indie Rock and Gypsy Jazz (Offbeat) scenes, Donghyuk Heo later focused on contemporary sound exploration, studying Electronic Music and Music Technology at Berklee College of Music and Sangmyung University. Upon returning to Korea, he formed the electronic band 'MDS' and made a strong impact on the electronic scene as a club DJ, performing at the World DJ Festival. His diverse spectrum, spanning both mainstream and experimental music, is further evidenced by his work in pop music songwriting teams and his role as a member of the legendary Korean indie group, 'Hwang Shin Hye Band'.
Recently, Donghyuk Heo has expanded his horizons beyond performing, acting as a Music Director creating interdisciplinary works with artists across various genres—including media artist Siyon Jin and ballet choreographer Gayoung Cho. Following his encounter with Insun Park, a vocalist and traditional mask dancer, he took on the role of Music Director for the Korean traditional mask dance group '천하제일탈공작소 (The Greatest Masque),' focusing on the contemporary transformation of Korean traditional arts.
Currently, as the guitarist and Music Director of the five-piece band 'Insun Park & Generals'—consisting of drums, guitar, bass, and Taepyeongso—he left a distinct impression on the global music market by performing at the 2026 globalFEST at Lincoln Center, New York. Building on this momentum, he has launched a North American tour while continuing his multi-dimensional artistic activities, including his first solo ambient concert, , which fully integrates his expertise in electronic music into a live performance.
